Anti-Spam Technologies

No regular email user can avoid Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE), commonly referred to as spam. The overall volume of spam across the Internet is growing, and businesses have to protect themselves against it. On top of spam, there are now emerging serious security threats over email such as viruses, trojans, and phishing. Because email is a business-critical application, and must be open at all times, it is a prime target for criminals.

Whilst modern email clients such as Outlook have built-in anti-spam technologies, it is often difficult to configure a company-wide policy based on individual clients. Not only that, but once spam or virus emails enter your network, they are already wasting your bandwidth and potentially threaten your enterprise.

For the smaller business, we recommend Barracuda's Spam Firewall. This device filters all incoming mail, and can handle volumes of email traffic typical to smaller organisations. Each user receives a report of blocked emails, and can use their own discretion to either black-list or white-list unknown mail.

For medium and larger businesses, we supply Borderware's MXtreme. This is a fully EAL4+ compliant, enterprise-class mail firewall, offering anti-spam, mail filtering, virus scanning, and can even act as your mail server. There is almost nothing that the MXtreme can't do with regards to email, and our engineers are fully trained to install, configure, and support both these devices.
